Icelandic Sheepdog

Icelandic Sheepdog

The Icelandic Dog is a happy, friendly, social, intelligent and eager to learn dog. Balanced and stable, courageous and tireless. They are tolerant towards children and get along well with other pets . They are very affectionate towards their owners and want to be part of the family. They are not dogs to be left alone or put in a kennel often. They are very considerate of their environment and very watchful. Known or unknown visitors are announced loudly, but friendly.

These dogs require relatively little grooming. Their coat is more or less self-cleaning. Sand and other debris falls from the coat while it dries. During the moulting period they can lose a lot of hair (especially the females) and it is necessary to comb out the loose hair a few times a week.
